When did America go blind?

Isaiah 33:22 says, “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; it is he who will save us.”

This obviously connects directly to the three branches of government. The framer’s definitely had this concept in mind when drafting the Constitution. Lately, Democrats are beginning to believe that government will save them from all the horrors of earth rather than the power of God. For example, Democrats try to diminish racial differences with affirmative action, however, they only make difference larger by teaching minorities a dependence on regulation rather than hard work ( hard work- a Biblical principle (Proverbs 12:24; Ephesians 4:28 and one this country was built on à the Puritan/ Protestant work ethic). Another example, Dems want socialized medicine because somehow healthcare is a “right” yet they disregard the fact that they will destroy an undeniable difference between America and the rest of the world- top notch health insurance.

The list could go on and on with programs that Democrats propose trying to save the nation the wrong way. Where did America go wrong? When did America go blind? Why did we start to look to the government rather than God for our answers? How did we lose sight of the fact all governments are upheld by the hand of God? I don’t have the answer but it happened. For example, former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore made a national splash when he refused to remove the 10 commandment from State Court House. He was later removed for his actions. How quickly we are fooled by the progressives in this country to think we weren’t founded on Christian principles? How quickly we forget the principles that founded this country? How quickly do we forget the words of James Madison, “We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We’ve staked the future of all our political institutions upon our capacity…to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”

We must have a revival in this country. We must try our eyes back to the Creator. If we fail to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments, Beatitudes, and teachings of Christ rather than the power of government, then we will fail to exist as a nation.

The Supreme Court has a greater problem than Sotomayor

Sotomayor may be confirmed. She probably will be. But the United States has greater problems with the Supreme Court… one is salary.

Although, the founders specifically protected a salary for judges to recruit the best judges to the bench, but current judges are being underpaid. In 2002, Former Chief Justice William Rehnquist believed that an increase in federal judge’s salaries was the most pressing issue. After adjusting for inflation, a Supreme Court Justices, who currently makes $ 203,000 a year, has taken a 24 percent pay cut since 1969. This pay cut and the fact that judges can make four to fives times more in private firms has undermined the quality of judges attracted to judicial positions. In effect, underpay has forced many qualified justices to decline taking positions or leaving the bench. Chief Justice Roberts points out the relevancy of this issue by reporting that “since 1990, 92 judges have left the bench. Fifty- nine of them stepped down to enter the private practices of law.” The American Bar Association declared that denying justices their worth creates fatal weaknesses in the judicial branch. How can the American government expect accurate jurisprudence from the federal bench while unqualified judges serve because the experienced ones are making much more in private practice? Without qualified justices who intend to serve for life as granted in Article III, the judicial system cannot compete as an independent yet accountable branch.

Sotomayor will just replace Souter- a very liberal judge anyway. But if we don’t pay our judges more, we will continue to get cheap quality judges. It won’t cost that much more and it will make a great difference. Maybe we’ll be able to find a judge that interprets the law and not makes or applies it. Those responsibilities are designated for other branches… But that’s another rant.

233 Years and We Haven't Learned a Thing

Less the 3%. Less than 3% sales tax actually. That started a revolution. Our founding fathers revolted over a sales tax that was less than 3%. I understand that a majority of their bickering came from the taxation without representation but overwhelming principle is still the same. Our early leaders hated taxation. Just read the Articles of Confederation we can see that or Ben Franklin’s remark’s on the subject. Although the articles failed mainly due to a lack of taxation on the federal level, they were still skeptical when they wrote no direct tax into the Constitution. A little more than 100 years after the Constitution was signed Americans still resisted direct taxes. In 1896, the Supreme Court overruled a state income tax. However, the 16th Amendment acted like steroids to our federal government. More federal taxes equals a larger federal government.

Now our country is bombarded with a number of taxes: income, estate, death, capital gains, death, sin, alternative minimum, and soon energy and health insurance. What would our founding fathers think? Jefferson would have called for a revolution a long time ago. And I believe most would start to jump on his band wagon.

Although a complete revolution may be too much to ask, I propose the FairTax. A tax revolution that would… well, revolutionize our country. It would put a damper on the federal government and bring the responsibility the founders intended. We need the FairTax and we need it now. www.fairtax.org

A Sad Day for Republicans

After recent news, Mark Sanford should now resign, and then the Republican Party is left with a little less leadership. He was a strong conservative and a true Republican. Turning down stimulus money put him in the national spotlight. I believe many conservative and liberals upset with the stimulus packaged respected Mr. Sanford’s boldness. In my opinion, he had (obviously before this) a strong case for a part in the Republican nomination in 2012. He seemed intelligent, bold, eloquent, and fresh- almost a male form of Sarah Palin (except not as attractive of course). However, his hideous action bring flack from the left. He has lost a great deal of respect and credibility. Actions like this do the same for Republicans- the party of family values. It’s a sad day for the Republicans. Let’s hope Bobby Jindal doesn’t do anything stupid now.

Obama's Socialism Won't Be Built in a Day

Sitting in the kitchen Wednesday afternoon, I laughed and was angered at the same time as Sheppard Smith reported the news of a new czar. This time, a pay czar. I laughed because of how ridiculous it sounds in a capitalistic country. I was angered because of a majority of American’s are okay with their grandchildren living out Orwell’s 1984 in 2084(or sooner). How can we knowingly let America be deceived into a knowingly failed economic system?

Kenneth Feinberg, the first and probably not the last pay czar of the United State of America. President Obama has appointed Mr. Feinberg as the “Special Master for Compensation” if that doesn’t sound like another Orwellian name than I don’ t know what does. Feinberg is responsible for “[ensuring] that companies receiving federal bailout funds are abiding by executive-pay guidelines” according to Ms. Solomon of the Wall Street Journal http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124416737421887739.html . Seriously? If the socialist nature of the bailout wasn’t bad enough, now we have someone monitoring the our pay?

Now I understand that he only monitors the pay of companies backed by the federal bailout. But this is only the beginning. It starts with something small and grows larger. This is just another way for our President to bring intrusion into our economic system-another way for the government to control our life. Eventually, Mr. Feinberg or his successor will be able to monitor the pay of smaller businesses. The most ridiculous part of this whole situation is that the majority of CEO’s aren’t stealing money from their companies or taking enormous end of the year bonuses. They are hard working small business owners who put in more hours than they will ever get paid. During hard times like these, small business owners take pay cuts, sometimes to nothing, just to keep their business running. And when the good times return and the money is available, they will make up for the money they didn’t make earlier. However, Mr. Feinberg will oust these types of practices that keep small business running, and capitalism as we know it will be gone and replaced by a failed system.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. And neither will Obama’s socialist America. We must be careful and watch for the signs. Sometimes the liberal mainstream media does not report it but it is happening. President Obama is bringing change. Change we should be afraid of.

My political beliefs

For my first post, I will layout my political beliefs. I believe:
· Our current federal government is too big.
· We have lost the intent of our founders and all of them are rolling over in their grave when they see what we have done with the Constitution.
· The whole tax system is screwed up- starting with the income tax. The income tax, along with corporate taxes, the estate tax, the death tax, and many other unnecessary taxes allow the federal government to grow in size and invade our life more and more each day. The only way to change our system is with a complete overhaul of the taxing system. The FairTax is the best solution for America and its future. The government should let the free market run itself. The bailouts are ridiculous and will only hurt our economic situation. President Barack Obama, or no other president, should ever have the power to fire a CEO or president of any company- no matter what the size or situation.
· Our federal government should be run like a business. I understand that most businesses are small business where the CFO/CEO/president is one hard working American who does not make millions every year or take voluptuous end of the year bonuses. The federal government should have a sound budget like these small businesses do every year. This would be possible if we eliminated our spending on programs like welfare, Medicare, Social Security- that are not specified in the Constitution.
· Welfare is unconstitutional and only makes the situation worse for the people receiving it.
· Affirmative action is unconstitutional based on the 14th amendment and only allows the recipients to be mediocre.
· The best solution to our energy problems is for the government to stay out and let private entrepreneurs drill off our shore and in Alaska.
· The second amendment grants citizens the right to bear firearms. Plain and simple.
· The federal government should follow the 10th Amendment and let the states control all other matter. Let the states be, as Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis once said, “laboratories of democracy” like the recent referendum of Prop 8 in California.
· The Supreme Court’s sole responsibility is to interpret the law and should take not part in creating legislation. I believe that Roe V. Wade should be overturned because everyone should have the right to life, including an unborn child
· The current war on terrorism was justified and was a success. We had several terrorist acts on American from 1993 to 2001 when we practiced apathy, and since 2001we have taken the fight to terrorist, no innocent American lives have died.
· The United States was founded on Judeo- Christian principles. Now this does not mean everyone must practice these values, but by recognizing them, the principles of the Constitution and the intent of the founders are clearer.
· Education was never a function of the federal government, but it looks like it is here to stay. Therefore, the best solution to high schools now is school vouchers.
· Global warming is not real. It has become a hoax by the government and liberal scientist and the media as another way to expand the federal government and control the lives of citizens.
· The American should get out of the United Nations. It has done us no good whatsoever.
· The government must crack down on illegal immigration. A fence would be a great way to monitor the border and protect American from possible terror suspects’ crossing over into America.
· As you can see, I am very conservative an all matters of government. However, I am not an anarchist. Government should protect Americans right to life, liberty and property (I understand these are the words of Locke not Jefferson). It should be in charge of national defense, interstate highways, and other minor things specified in the Constitution.
· To save America for as long as possible (since every great nation/empire in the history of the world has eventually collapsed and America will too one day) we must return to the original intent of our Constitution and founders.
